Poetry Anthology
In this unit the children will create a class anthology of poetry. They will learn how to save, open and print documents. They will learn how to copy and paste text and images. They will also learn how to manipulate text by changing its appearance (bold, italic, underline), its justification (left, right, centre and justified), its colour, size and font. They will also create page borders for each poem and search for appropriate images using Safe Search.

Christmas Toy Shop Challenge
In this unit the children will take on the role of a toy shop owner. They will use a spreadsheet to buy the initial stock for their shop with a starting budget. They will then use the spreadsheet to calculate their retail price and post their stocklist as an online poll to take orders. At the end of the unit they will calculate how much profit they have made. They will also learn about how ICT is used in the retail environment (including a possible visit to the local Tesco store).

Top Trumps
In this unit the children will learn about databases using Top Trumps cards. They will begin by playing some Top Trumps and then completing some activities to introduce the concepts of sorting algorithms. The children will then design, research and create their own Top Trumps sets on a topic of their choice. (This is a double unit)

Communication
In this unit the children will learn about methods of communication over long distances including historical methods such as semaphore and Morse Code. They will look at technology such as the telegraph and telephone and finally they will learn how to send email safely and responsibly.

Big Traks
In this unit the children will learn how to program the Big Traks. They will write algorithms to instruct the Big Traks to perform dance routines. These algorithms will be tested and altered before the final dance-off.
